Manshni Gavashni and Kunashni
Forest       Humanity is Ahura Mazda's most precious creation. This is because Ahura Mazda has placed on our shoulders the responsibility for the salvation of the entire universe. We fulfill this responsibility by recognizing, controlling and converting the negative forces inside and outside of us into good forces. We can convert evil into good one tiny step at a time. We can accomplish this by

converting our ego into humility

converting our selfish desires into giving and charitable desires

converting hatred into love

converting our judgment of others into compassion for others

converting our need for self preservation into a desire to work for the good of others.

We convert bad into good when we put an end to bad habits by the practice of good habits. Yes, it is a huge responsibility but Ahura Mazda assures us that we can and will be successful.

We can accomplish the conversion of negative forces into positive forces, by first converting our negative thoughts into good thoughts. Hmmm... doesn't that remind you of something? Yes that's right -- Manashni, Gavashni and Kunashni. Let's take a minute to understand what these precious words really mean and how they help us fulfill our purpose and duty to Ahura Mazda.

Manashni       Manashni, Gavashni, Kunashni can be loosely translated as Good Words, Good Thoughts and Good Deeds. That sounds easy enough doesn't it? But sometimes understanding what is "good" and what is "not good" can get pretty confusing. For example, would you be exercising "Good Thoughts" by bravely defending someone you love even though that person might be in the wrong? Would you be exercising "Good Words" by telling someone they look great even though you may not mean it? Would you be exercising "Good Deeds" by helping some better their life at another person's expense? Understanding what is good and what is bad is a process we have to deal with all through our lives.

The good news is that we now have a secret tool to help us understand the concept of good and bad.

This first chapter has armed us with a very good tool to help us understand the nature of "Good" as opposed to "Bad". You can use this tool like a compass. Keep checking it to see if you are headed in the right direction - that is, towards the righteous path. That special tool is none other than the knowledge of "our Purpose / our Duty / our Path""!

If a thought, word or deed helps you perform your divine duty; if it helps you progress on the path of DIN towards Ahura Mazda, then it is "good" because it is leading you in the right direction. If a thought, word or deed, pulls you away from your duty and hence away from your path, then it is "bad" because it is leading you in the wrong direction.

Bettering our thoughts words and deeds is part of the process we must follow to stay on the path of Truth and Righteousness. We will attain Manashni, Gavashni, and Kunashni only when we are filled with thoughts of Ahura Mazda, His Truth and His Work.
This can only happen when our souls are highly advanced on the path of Truth and Righteousness.
